Arizona Summer Trip: Exploring the Southwest and My iFLY Travel Experience

If I had to choose a US state that is perfect for exploring in summer, Arizona would definitely come to mind. The desert, sunshine, and wide open skies always make me feel like I am somewhere completely different from anywhere else.

For this trip, I did not plan a packed itinerary. I wanted to take my time exploring Phoenix and find activities that would let me truly participate rather than simply look around. In the end, I decided to add iFLY STEM Family Sundays to my travel plans.

Experiencing a Different Side of Summer in Phoenix

After arriving in Phoenix, one of my favorite things to do was simply slow down and explore.I loved looking at the wide open sky and noticing the contrast between the desert landscape and the city.

Compared with a coastal destination, Arizona felt drier, more spacious, and full of the unique freedom that I associate with the American Southwest. However, spending too much time outdoors during summer can be challenging for me, so I intentionally left some time in my itinerary for an indoor activity.

That was one of the reasons I chose iFLY.I did not want my entire trip to be about sightseeing. I wanted to actually participate in something fun and memorable.

My iFLY STEM Family Sundays Experience Plan

For this trip, I chose iFLY STEM Family Sundays. What caught my attention was the way the activity combines science education with indoor skydiving.

The experience includes STEM learning, flight science demonstrations, interactive experiments, and an actual indoor flight experience.Whenever I used to see STEM activities, my first thought was that they were mainly designed for children.

But after learning more about iFLY, I realized that adults can participate too, which made me even more excited.I have always been curious about how air can actually lift a person’s body into the air.

If I were taking part, I would definitely listen carefully to the instructor before stepping into the wind tunnel myself. To me, this feels completely different from visiting a typical tourist attraction. I would not just be standing there taking photos. I would actually become part of the experience.

I Know I Would Be Nervous the First Time I Flew

If it were my first time trying iFLY, I am sure I would feel nervous before actually entering the wind tunnel.I am not normally someone who is particularly interested in extreme sports, so when I put on the gear and stand in front of the wind tunnel, I can imagine myself wondering, “Can I really fly?”

But I think that nervous feeling is actually one of the most exciting parts of traveling. With guidance from the instructor, I would gradually learn how to adjust my body. When the airflow finally lifted me up, I imagine my first reaction would be pure surprise.

I would probably think, “Air can really support my body.”At that moment, I would no longer feel like just another visitor to Phoenix. I would feel like I had truly become part of a unique experience in the city. That is what I like about iFLY.It turns me from an observer into a participant.

After Flying, I Would Continue Exploring Phoenix

After finishing my iFLY experience, I would not immediately head back to my hotel.I would want to continue exploring Phoenix. If the timing worked out, I would find a local restaurant for dinner and slowly enjoy the city at night.

I especially like combining different kinds of experiences in the same day.I could spend the morning enjoying Arizona’s natural scenery, experience flying at iFLY in the afternoon, and then relax over dinner in the evening. That kind of travel rhythm feels perfect for me.

I do not need to visit ten different attractions in one day, and I do not want to spend the entire trip rushing from one place to another. I prefer leaving some breathing room between each experience.

For me, iFLY would be a special turning point in this trip, adding a little excitement and something unexpected to what would otherwise be a trip focused mainly on Arizona’s natural scenery.

What I Want to Take Home Is a Truly Personal Travel Memory

In the past, I always focused on the places I absolutely had to visit. Now, I increasingly feel that the real value of traveling comes from whether I experience something I will still remember long after the trip is over.

Of course, I will remember Arizona’s desert, sunshine, and endless skies. But I think what might stay with me the longest is the moment when I first experience flying inside the iFLY wind tunnel.I love that feeling.

I can take my time appreciating Arizona’s scenery, but I can also suddenly challenge myself with something completely new.If I return to Phoenix someday, I think I would still find a way to include iFLY in my itinerary.

Because for me, the best trip is not about how many attractions I manage to see. It is about leaving with a story that truly belongs to me.And this time, the story I want to take home is the story of how I learned to fly in Arizona.
